From July 13 to July 20, 2025, visitors can enjoy a week packed with fun across both North Tonawanda and Tonawanda. With roots dating back to 1983, Canal Fest is a beloved tradition that features a vibrant parade, live music, arts and crafts vendors, a classic car and bike cruise, and a midway full of rides and games. It’s a celebration that captures the heart of these twin cities, welcoming families, food lovers, and festival-goers of all ages.
Whether you’re wandering through the artisan market, enjoying a canal-side concert, or grabbing a bite from one of the many food vendors, there’s something magical about experiencing summer in the Tonawandas during Canal Fest. The festival concludes with a spectacular fireworks display over the water, bringing the community together under the stars. Car Cruise
One of Canal Fest’s most beloved traditions is the Car Cruise, taking place on Wednesday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This event transforms the streets of the Tonawandas into a vibrant showcase of classic and custom vehicles, drawing car enthusiasts and families alike. Participants stage their vehicles at Gratwick Park in North Tonawanda starting at 3:00 PM, before cruising through the festival's bustling avenues. The cruise is free to attend, but attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for the Tonawanda Salvation Army and NT Inter-Church food pantries. This evening event offers more than just a parade of polished chrome and roaring engines; it’s a celebration of community spirit and automotive history. Arts & Crafts Show
The Arts & Crafts Show at Canal Fest of the Tonawandas is a vibrant celebration of creativity and community. Held over the weekend of July 19–20, 2025, this two-day event features over 200 artists and crafters from Western New York, neighboring states, and beyond. Vendors line the charming downtown streets on both sides of the historic Erie Barge Canal, offering a diverse array of handmade goods, including jewelry, pottery, paintings, textiles, and more.
Visitors can stroll through the open-air market, meet the artisans behind the creations, and find unique treasures to take home. The picturesque setting, combined with the festival's lively atmosphere, makes the Arts & Crafts Show a must-visit highlight of Canal Fest.
Canal Fast Parade
The Canal Fest Parade is a highlight of the annual Canal Fest of the Tonawandas, bringing together the communities of North Tonawanda and Tonawanda in a vibrant display of local pride and creativity. Scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the parade features a diverse lineup of participants, including marching bands, community groups, and themed floats, all celebrating the rich heritage of the region. The procession typically begins near the corner of Minerva and Main Streets in Tonawanda and travels across the Sweeney Street Bridge, concluding at the corner of Main and Goundry Streets in North Tonawanda.
